UPDC Plc started its journey in 1997 and carved out of UAC of Nigeria Plc’s property division.

 

The United African Company (now known as UAC of Nigeria Plc) was formed in 1879 from the four European companies trading up the River Niger.

 

As a result of extensive trading activities across Nigeria, UAC acquired a large number of produce warehouses, offices and residential structures, which in turn led to the company’s control of a significant amount of real estate all over Nigeria.

 

These acquisitions were managed by a department of UAC, which became a subsidiary company, UACN Property Development Company in 1997. And in 1998, UACN Property Development Company (UPDC) was listed on the Nigerian stock exchange.

UPDC is a leading real estate development company which was established in 1997 and has since grown to become the largest real estate platform listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. We began our historic journey as a subsidiary of UAC of Nigeria Plc, but today we are proudly a strong standalone entity focused on building in Nigeria, for Nigerians by Nigerians. 

 

As a Group, we have a recognized track record in developing, selling and leasing residential, commercial and retail assets across Nigeria. We also have a first-class facilities management business and 3-star hotel and conference centre as key subsidiaries to our Group. 

 

We are proud of our history, our successes and our challenges as these are a testament to the resilience of our Company and the hard work and dedication of our people. We are equally grateful for the continued support of our shareholders as we transition into a phase of growth. We are in this together, and together we will build our future.
